Obituary of Edward Lee McVey

Mr. Edward Lee McVey, better known as "Eddie" age 58, of Fleetwood passed away Saturday morning, November 25, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Tuesday; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. McVey was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, October 6, 1959 to Edward McVey and the late Lucille Bare McVey. He managed Bryant Church Lumber Company in Wilkes County. Eddie was a deacon at Old Fields Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #373. He enjoyed deer hunting and watching his bird dogs. He and Connie also enjoyed riding their Harley; they traveled to several different states. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother; he will be missed by all. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Brittany Skye McVey and his father-in-law, Conley B. Cheek. Mr. McVey is survived by his wife, Connie Cheek McVey; a son, Martin Edward McVey and wife, Kaylan, of Fleetwood; a daughter, Mariah Dawn McVey, of Fleetwood; his father, Edward McVey, of Jefferson; a brother, Bobby McVey and wife, Sandy, of Crumpler; his mother-in-law, Francis B. Cheek, of Fleetwood; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to: Old Fields Baptist Church Cemetery, 1964 Conley Cheek Road, Fleetwood, NC 28626. Pallbearers are as follow: John Oaks, Donnie Peterson, William Church, Maurice Jordan, Chris Greene and Bailey Gore.
