Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

I was devastated to read of Johnny's passing! We became good friends while both county commissioners, and although on opposite sides, politically, almost always were in total agreement on important decisions. After we were both out of politics, our friendship continued and I never visited Ashe County without a stop to see Johnny, and we'd take up our conversation as though we had not been separated. He was one of a kind - an excellent politician and a wonderful friend. The world is lesser without him in it - but I'm sure Johnny will organize Heaven's angels, and get them into interesting political discussions! RIP Johnny!! You are missed!!

We remember all the fun times with Johnny. There were birthdays, BBQs and Christmas parties filled with laughter and lots of food. So many memories hanging out in Johnny's store talking to folks and punching on "The Board".
