I had the pleasure of meeting Joe while working at Carter's. He was a very decent, christian man. Even though I didn't get to know him more, it was definitely a pleasure to get to know him. Rick and I met you in January at the Arts Council's memorial for Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It had been at least 25 years since I had seen Joe and was so glad to get reconnected with him and to meet you. Joe and I went to school together. He was always so kind and friendly to me. I will hold you and family in prayer. May peace and healing be with you, now. God bless and keep you. Barbara and family, My heart is broken for you. Joe was such a nice and humble man. When I visited you a couple months ago I never would have dreamed his time on earth would be so short. Barbara and family,
We will not be able to attend Joe's service on Saturday but want you and the family to know how much we have admired you and Joe through the years. He has been a favorite of ours since he was in June Phillips' 6th grade class and Cindy was the student teacher. Even then his attitude and contagious smile led one to believe he would be a good man. This assumption played out years later when there stood Joe Boyden on TV being interviewed for finding the owner of an envelope containing several thousand dollars. We both thought how puzzled Joe looked from all that attention over doing what was right. Now the struggle with sickness is over and we pray peace for you and the family.
