Thomas Warren Ring (Tom) departed this earth to be with his savior on December 6, 2018 at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Wyvonna Teryl "Terri" Ring who passed away on November 16, 2018. He is survived by his three children, Mary Catherine Finch of Todd, NC, Thomas W. Ring Jr. of Milton, FL and Timothy S. Ring of Lake City, FL; a sister, Rita Jo Ring Banner, of Castlewood, VA. He is also survived by six beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Tom served his country in WWII as a 17-year-old marine of the Fighting Fourth Marine Division on Iwo Jima - "Once a Marine Always a Marine". Tom and Terri, were proud to have been residents of Ashe County, NC since1993. Tom started his civilian career working in the coal mines of Virginia prior to moving to Florida and working in phosphate mining. He was proud to have been a boy scout troop leader as well as a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Family will receive visitors from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday December 13, 2018 at Boone Family Funeral Home in West Jefferson, NC. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 12:00pm at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites.
