Mrs. Clara Bledsoe Fletcher, age 93, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Fletcher was born in Ashe County on September 7, 1925 to the late Walter and Margie Moretz Bledsoe. She volunteered several places in Ashe County: 20 years at Ashe County Sharing Center, 17 years at Ashe Senior Center and Ashe County Board of Elections. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She loved riding the four-wheeler with her son down by the river. Clara enjoyed life and always had a smile on her face. She was a loving mother and friend; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Fletch in 1980; a son, Gene Fletcher; seven siblings. Mrs. Fletcher is survived by: a son, Gary Fletcher and wife, Susie, of Deep Gap; a sister, Betty Graham, of Pennsylvania; a brother, Rhonda Bledsoe, of Maggie Valley; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests no food please!
