Obituary of David Earl Lewis, Sr.

Mr. David Earl Lewis, better known as “Earl” age 79, of Creston passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 afternoon at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. David Lewis and Rev. Jamie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Lewis was born in Ashe County on March 31, 1940 to the late Gwyn and Ethel Eldreth Lewis. Earl was a member and deacon at Three Top Baptist Church. He was known for is woodworking and cabinet maker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Greer Lewis; two sons, David Lewis, Jr. and wife Nancy of Creston, and Gwyn Lewis of West Jefferson; one brother; Bob Lewis and wife Sharlene of Creston, one sister; Margaret Eldreth and husband Bill of Wilkesboro; seven grandchildren, Brandon Lewis and wife Cassie Lewis of Creston, David Lewis and wife Tara of Creston, Jamie Lewis and wife Leslie of Laurel Springs, Montana Hinson and husband William of Warrensville, Samantha Hayton, Ashley Pardue and husband Nathan, and Dillon Trivette, twelve great-grandchildren; Blake, Colton, Bethany, Leigha, Evan, Mason, Caleb, Hailey, Clint, West, Bailey, and Olivia, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
