Obituary of Deforrest McCoy

Mr. Deforrest McCoy, Sr., better known as "Frosty" age 73, of Creston passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Rev. Tom Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00pm on Friday; two hours prior to the funeral service.

The family will also receive friends after the services at Creston Fire Deptartment.

Mr. McCoy was born in Ashe County on November 13, 1945 to the late Joseph and Goldie Graybeal McCoy. Frosty enjoyed working on the farm with his cattle and goats, and also the garden. He was the original member at Creston Fire Department. Frosty was a member at Creston United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by a son; Deforrest McCoy, Jr., a sister; June Richardson, and a brother; Walter Thomas McCoy.

Mr. McCoy is survived by his wife of 55 years; Mary Lou Parsons McCoy, one daughter; Lisa Johnson of Creston, four brothers; Rev. Herbert McCoy and wife Jean of Boone, Harrell McCoy and wife Shirley of Boone, Larry McCoy and wife Mary Nell of Warrensville, and Donnie McCoy and wife Faye of Cleveland, TN, two grandchildren; TJ Johnson of Creston, and Samantha Johnson and fiancé Dylan Howell, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Memorial, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will be meeting at the home of Lisa Johnson, 1042 Cabbage Creek Road, Creston, NC.
