Mr. Garvin McNeill, age 80, of Jefferson passed away Monday morning, July 29, 2019 at Ashe Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 4:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2019; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. McNeill was born in Ashe County on January 14, 1939 to the late Garfield McNeill and George Annie Hoosier McNeill. He retired from Viking Steel in Cleveland, Ohio and from body shop work at Ashe County Motors. Garvin enjoyed driving motorcycles, collecting diecast model cars, collecting and building gasoline powered radio control cars and truck and racing them. He could build anything; he had an inventor's vision and built it. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pollie Janie Richardson; two brothers, Sanford McNeill and Robert McNeill; two sisters, Charlotte Bare and Lenoir Elliott. Mr. McNeill is survived by: two daughters, Charlene Brooks of Huron, Ohio and Marlene Cromer of Cleveland, Ohio; a son, Garvin McNeill, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia; a brother, Bernard McNeill and wife, Linda, of Lansing; a sister, Sharon Hennis and husband, Jimmy, of Raleigh; eight grandchildren, Skylar McNeill, Mychai McNeill and Gavin McNeill; all of Virginia, Erin McGinty, Danny Gonsor, and Jake Gonsor; all of Cleveland, Ohio, Joshua Brooks, of Huron, Ohio, and Brittany Brooks, of Vermillion, Ohio; a great-grandchild, Jadon Paul Brooks, of Huron, Ohio; several nieces and nephews also survive.
