Mrs. Marie Woodie Miller, age 87, of Laurel Springs passes away Friday morning, October 11, 2019 at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:00pm at Bare Family Cemetery in Laurel Springs with Rev. Jeffrey Bumgarner officiating. Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on March 26, 1932 to the late Gilbert and Hester Woodie. Marie was a faithful member at Laurel Fork Presbyterian Church; she also served as church treasurer for many years. She was a wonderful seamstress; she made many beautiful clothes. She also enjoyed canning her crops from the garden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Wheeling Miller; a brother, Worth Woodie; two sisters, Ella Mae Sherman and Dorothy Reeves. Mrs. Miller is survived by: a sister, Anna Lee Darnell of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
