Obituary of Herbert Cecil Shoemake
Mr. Herbert Cecil Shoemake, better known as "Cecil", age 87, of Jefferson passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Due to current restrictions, the family will be holding private services.
Mr. Shoemake was born in Ashe County on October 25, 1932 to the late Volna "Ralph" and "Emma" Josephine Snyder Shoemake. He served in the United States Army during Korean War. He retired from Duke Power. He was a member of Clifton Baptist Church and a member of American Legion for over 21 years. Cecil always had a smile on his face and an apple for his friends. He was a Loving father and brother; he will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Houck; two brothers, Carson Shoemake and Dean Shoemake; two sisters, Janet Stanley and Barbara Richardson.
Mr. Shoemake is survived by: a son, Mike Shoemake and wife, Evelyn, of Warrensville; two daughters, Judy Hazlewood, of Jefferson and Cindy Pugh and husband, Walter, of Crumpler; a sister, Carolyn Hartsog, of Jefferson and a brother, J.C. Shoemake and wife, Brenda, of Warrensville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five nieces and four nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
