Words cannot express the way we felt about "Greene". He was a second father to all of our children. Tra was especially close to James & so appreciated the opportunity to work with him in his garage. Tra as well as all of us loved him very much. I enjoyed sitting on his ledge & discussing the world with him & was so looking forward to doing so this summer. James was a wonderful cousin; he always called my mother, his Aunt Bertie, as they shared the same birthday and that meant so much to her and to me. He and Marsha were very special to me; Marsha and I shared many dinners back in the 60s while she lived in Winston-Salem and James was the main topic of our conversations. James had a very infectious smile and always gave great hugs which I will miss.

I always knew him as "Jim", as did most of those who worked at the original Northwestern Bank. I worked for Jim in the Transportation Department as his assistant and am so thankful that I had that opportunity. His wonderful personality and his caring and compassion is what made everyone love him so much. He was incredible to work for and even more incredible just to know.
