Obituary of James E. Greene

Mr. James E. Greene age 65, of West Jefferson, passed away Friday evening, November 6, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Elledge, Rev. Steve LeaShomb and Rev. Dean Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Monday, prior to the funeral service. Mr. Greene was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, May 17, 1944 to the late Herbert and Annie Johnston Greene. He served in the United State Air Force. He started working with Northwestern Bank and retired from First Union Bank. He was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Blackburn Greene; a son, Anthony James (Tony) Greene and wife, Tyson, of Charlotte NC; two brothers, Kenny Greene and wife, Dorothy, of West Jefferson and Clayton Greene and wife, Juanita, of Draper, VA; five sisters, Mary Hardin and husband, Tom, of West Jefferson, Annie Clyde Gentry and husband, Bill, of Todd Doris Phillips and husband, Johnny, of Jefferson, Martha Brown and husband, Joe, of Todd and Betty Gentry of Abington, VA; a grandson, Jacob Butler Greene; a granddaughter, Julia Lane Greene; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests no food or flowers please.
