Rev. David Ralph Testerman, age 78, of West Jefferson passed away Sunday afternoon at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Day, Rev. Johnny Goodman, and Rev. Mike McElhaney officiating. The body will lie in state on Saturday from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home David was born in Ashe County on September 30, 1942 to the late Worley and Nell Mullis Testerman. David was a pastor for over 50 years preaching at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, Pleasant Home Church, Laurel Knob, Stony Hill Church, West View Baptist Church, Landmark, Mount Paron Baptist Church and the last 18 years at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Painting, playing golf, playing the guitar, and singing were some of his favorite things. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all. David is preceded in death by a brother; Bob Testerman, and sisters; Margaret Hudler and Ruth Garvin. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Eldreth Testerman; one son, Jeff Testerman and fiancé Megan Coffey of West Jefferson; one daughter, Sherrie McElhaney and husband Mike of Fleetwood; one brother, William Testerman of New Mexico; three grandchildren, Michaela McElhaney, Lauren Testerman, and Kristen Testerman; two step grandchildren, Nolan Watkins and Chace Coffey; brother-in-law, Rex Eldreth and wife Judy of Wilkes; sisters-in-law, Mae Sexton of Hampton, VA, Pat Taylor of West Jefferson, Mary Grayum of Randleman, NC, and Pam and Joe Burgess of Jefferson.
