Mr. Benjamin Ray Ewell, better known as "Ben", age 51, of Crumpler passed away Thursday morning, March 18, 2010 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:00pm at Edge Ministries Church, 228 East Main Street in Jefferson with Rev. Rick Barker officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Mr. Ewell was born in Ashe County to the late Lewis Kammel and Nola Hamby Ewell. He was a truck driver and drove for Shull's Tranport Service. One of Ben's greatest loves was is grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jean Dugger Ewell; two sons, David Calhoun, of Jefferson and Daniel Lambert, of Greensboro; two daughters, Lisa Biondi and husband, Joe, of Jefferson and Pam Calhoun, of Lansing; three sisters, Shirley Cowan, of Jefferson, Mary Ewell, of Wilkesboro and Debra Miller, of Delaware; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
