Patricia Woodie Smith, 76, of Charlotte died June 14, 2010. She was the daughter of the late William Lawton and Danford Laurance Woodie. Patricia grew up in Ashe County along the New River. She gave her love abundantly to her family; her life was filled with love and respect for animals and nature. A devoted wife, loving sister and aunt, she will always be remembered and will live in the hearts of all who loved her. She was retired from Dixie News Company where she worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles A. Smith; sisters, JoAnne Woodie Brannock of Clemmons, NC; Carolyn Woodie Parker of Mt. Airy, NC and Sylvia Woodie Chilton and husband, Robert of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law, Shirley Kelly of Millsboro, Delaware; 10 nieces and nephews and her beloved pets, "DeeDee" and "Fuzzy". A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 17th at Double Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel Springs, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at Forest Lawn West Funeral and Cremation Service in Charlotte.
