Francis William Smith Watson, better known as "Bill", age 87, of West Jefferson, the Benge Gap Community, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral Services will be held on 2:00pm Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Mr. Watson was born in Wilkes County on Monday, June 4, 1923 to the late William Smith and Minnie Alice Phillips Watson. He served in the United States Army. He was the owner/ operator of Park Vista Motel and Restaurant. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Watson. Mr. Watson is survived by a daughter, Patricia Watson Hayworth and husband, Wayde, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Nadine Watson Flurkey, of Lenoir City, TN and Barbara Watson Berrier, of Winston Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Dee Parra and Nolan Hayworth; two great grandchildren, Lorena Parra and Vanessa Resendiz; several nieces and nephews also survive.
