Mr. James Avery Starling, age 85, of West Jefferson passed away Friday afternoon, July 16th, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 19th, at 11:00 am at Friendly Grove Baptist with Rev. Wayne Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, July 18th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Starling is survived by his wife Josephine Flowers Starling of West Jefferson, NC; one son Gerald Starling of Hampton, Ga.; one daughter Ava Lambert of Dallas, NC; one brother Worth Starling of Wilson, NC; two sisters Agnes Bizzell of Four Oaks, NC and Marie Spivey of Princeton, NC; four grandchildren, one great grandchild & several nieces and nephews also survive.
