Mrs. Retha Doris Miller Wood, age 74, of Jefferson, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, October 9, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Galgano and Rev. Jim Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Clint Gilley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:000-8:00pm on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. She was born in Ashe County on Saturday, June 27, 1936 to the late James and Dora Shepherd Miller. She was a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, Glenn A. Wood; three sons, Jerry A. Wood and wife, Pamela, of Wilkesboro, Roger D. Wood and wife, Lydia, of Millers Creek and Michael J. Wood and wife, Sharon, of Marion, VA; a daughter, Debbie W. Jones and husband, Larry, of Warrensville; three brothers, Carroll Miller, of Lansing, Lacy Miller, of Lansing and Jimmy Miller, of Tennessee; two sisters, Madeline Roop, of Taylorsville and Goldie Bird, of Galax, VA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the home of Debbie Jones at 170 Ed Little Road in Warrensville.
