Mr. Jimmy Ferguson, age 70, of West Jefferson passed away Monday morning, October 11, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2pm at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Radcliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Ferguson was born in Ashe County on October 6, 1940 to the late William M. and Ollie Greer Ferguson. He worked 30 years for the NCDOT, as a motor grader operator. After retirement from the state department, Jimmy helped his daughter operate T.L. Construction. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Jimmy loved his church and friends. He also enjoyed four wheeling, watching his western movies and taking Sunday afternoon naps. He is survived by his wife, of 49 years of marriage, Greta Williams Ferguson; a son, Keg Ferguson, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Lynn Ferguson, of West Jefferson; a brother, Steve Ferguson, of Frederick, MD; a sister, Mary Phillips, of West Jefferson; two grandchildren Josh Ferguson and Rachel Ferguson, both of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
