Mr. Kermit Jones, age 93, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday night, November 2, 2010 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. A private funeral service will be held. Mr. Jones was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, October 23, 1917 to the late Floyd and Bertha Reedy Jones. He served in the United States Army during the last part of World War II. He was a Produce Broker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Louise Osborne; a grandson, David Jones; a great-grandson, Adam Gilley; a brother and two sisters. Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Bobby Jones and wife, Dorothy, of Jefferson and Jim Jones and wife, Carolyn, of Smithfield, NC; two sisters, Polly Osborne, of West Jefferson and Winnie Thomas, of Zionville, NC; two grandchildren Donna Gilley, of Jefferson and Doug Jones, of Smithfield, NC; four great-grandchildren Dustin Gilley, Tyler Gilley, Grayson Gilley and Wade Jones; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family respectfully requests no food please! In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
