Mrs. Betty Wood Grubb, age 77, of Todd passed away Sunday morning, February 20, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2:00pm at Baldwin Community Church with Rev. Tim Roten, Rev. David Grinnell and Rev. Bill Manley officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Grubb was born in Ashe County on Saturday, December 23, 1933 to the late Edward and Carrie McGuire Wood. She worked for the state as a case worker for the blind. She was a member of Baldwin Community Church, where she played the piano. She had a great love for music. She is survived by her husband, Bill Grubb, of 57 years of marriage; a son, Kenneth Grubb and wife, Jackie, of Fleetwood; three brothers, James Wood and wife, Marie, of Todd, Ronder Wood and wife, Wilma, of Todd and Melvin Wood and wife, Shelby, of Todd; two sisters, Grace Holman, of Todd and Rita Grubb, of Todd; three grandchildren Michelle Smith and husband, Robbie, Christy Grubb and fianc, Craig Ritter and Aaron Grubb; three great-grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Chase Smith and Connor Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive.
