Mrs. Jewel Roark Price, age 90, of Creston passed away Monday afternoon, February 21, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011at 2:00pm at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Roark, Rev. Anthony Roark and Rev. Rector Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne-Price-Mahala Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Price was born in Ashe County on Monday, October 11, 1920 to the late Audie and Sylvania Mahala Roark. She was a Homemaker. She was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church, where she served a treasurer for 37 years. She had a great love for family and working in her flowers. She also enjoyed reading and doing search word puzzles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Price; three sisters, Cazzie Potter, Sylvia Mahala and Elsie Roark; a brother, Emerson (Zink) Roark. She is survived by four sons, Wayne Price and wife, Dianna, of Lenoir, Bruce Price and wife, Jean, of Creston, James Price and wife, Rose, of Creston, David Price and wife, Joyce, of Creston; three daughters, Ann Mahala and husband, Everett, of Creston, Darlene Roberts, of Creston and Blanche Bumgardner, of Creston; a sister, Verlie Roark and husband, Ray, of Pepsico, Florida; fifteen grandchildren Tamatha Mahala, Tony Price, Anita Price, Greg Price, Grady Price, Octavia Cardwell, Amanda Shoemaker, Jennifer Mahala, Johnny Roberts Kevin Roberts, Adam Roberts, Jolene Roberts, Robert Price, Amy Grayson and Amanda Bumgardner; twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
