Mrs. Mecy Ilean Ball Howell, age 79, of Todd died Tuesday afternoon, September 6, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Funeral services are Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. JD Walton and Rev. Tim Roten officiating. Burial will follow at the Baldwin Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at 1:00-3:00pm, two hours prior to funeral services. She was born on Sunday, August 14, 1932 to the late Carl and Mamie Sheets Ball. Mrs. Howell was known for making the best chocolate pies, homemade rolls, and crocheting for family and friends. She retired from Sara Lee working as a sewing machine operator. Mrs. Howell is survived by her husband of 54 years of marriage, Everette Howell; four brothers; Joe Ball and wife, Betty of West Jefferson, Ray Ball of West Jefferson, Charles Ball and wife, Virginia of Greensboro, and Kyle Ball and wife Linda, of Jefferson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews also survive. She is proceeded in death by a sister-in-law, Rhumell Ball. The family requests no food please!
