Mr. Joseph "Calvin" Goodman, age 84, of Jefferson, NC entered his Heavenly Home on December 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military rites. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Goodman was born in Ashe County on April 7, 1927 to the late Joseph Dewey Goodman and Alma Kimberlin Goodman. He worked as a jailor at Ashe County Sheriff's Office for 15 years. He is preceded in death by two brothers; infant Willie Goodman, and Kermit Goodman; two sisters; Ola Mae Greer, and Corina Baldwin; and one granddaughter; Brandy Byland. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Goodman; two sons; Donnie Goodman and wife Barbara of Knightdale NC, and Alan Goodman and wife Daphne of West Jefferson; three daughters; Joyce Blevins and fianc Keith Caraway of West Jefferson, Brenda Garland and husband Jerry of West Jefferson, and Linda Harless and husband Donald of West Jefferson; one sister; Beulah Jones of West Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; Kasey Jones, Krystal Southard, Kody Blevins, Seth Byland, Shanda Richards, Amanda Sumner, Donna Bare, Cole Harless, Dillon Harless, Joe Goodman, Alycia Richardson, Austin Goodman, Amy Cardwell, and Donnie Cardwell; 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
