Mr. Norman Lida Carpenter, age 94, of Warrensville, died Saturday afternoon, August 4, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 7:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Dollar, Rev. Julian Owens, and Rev. Denton Hart officiating. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10am at the Carpenter Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 5-7pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Carpenter was born in Ashe County on June 16, 1918 to the late Sidney Marion Carpenter and Liza Calhoun. He is preceded in death by his wife; Ottie Patrick Carpenter; two daughters; Betty Sue Carpenter and Wanda Mae Carpenter; one brother; Garland Carpenter; one sister; Estie Hart; and one granddaughter; Wanda Weaver. He is survived by five sons; Denver Carpenter of Lansing, Ernie Carpenter of Lansing, Charles Carpenter of Lansing, Dolin Carpenter of Elk Park, and Jerry Carpenter of Lansing; two daughters; Shelby Hartzog of Fleetwood, and Wilma May of Jefferson; two sisters; Brunett Carpenter and Exie Carpenter of Mountain City, TN; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
