Mrs. Bledsoe was born in Ashe County on July 31, 1916 to the late Charles Cox and Bertie Harvey McGuire. Mrs. Bledsoe, known to many as "Mid", will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, neighbor and friend. Visitors never left her home empty handed if she had been cooking that day and she shared with everyone her "made from scratch" baking. She was a gifted lady who enjoyed many years after retirement gardening, cooking, and sewing. Most especially, her talents will be missed by her numerous "sewing customers" as she was seamstress to many in Ashe and surrounding counties. When she wasn't busy doing alterations, she kept busy with her quilt making, each stich sewn by hand. She loved her church family and was loved by them being a member for over 65 years.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer L. Bledsoe; a daughter; Pat Turpin; and a brother; Clyde Cox.
She is survived by one son; Doug Bledsoe and wife Brenda of West Jefferson; two daughters; Janet Watson and husband Joe and Dorothy Bledsoe of Lexington NC; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
