They say it takes a village and part of my village growing up was Betty!. She was my other mother. She taught me soooo much about life. She saved and made sure that I had a complete flatware set for high school graduation-not wedding but graduation! I treasue that flatware set and take great pains with it. She is the one that made sure that i made it to school when i missed my ride-which was Kevin!haha The day that I was married, it was Betty that made sure that my hydrangea arrangements were perfect. She always stopped by when I came home from where ever...I am so sad today for all of us that were blessed to have her in our lives. What a beautiful lady-inside and out. Morris and Kevin I am thinking of you and I am so sorry I won't be there for the memorial service. I love you

Sweet Aunt Betty! My prayers and good thoughts go to all who loved her so. Mo, Kevin, Tammy, her whole family and her friends. She was an aunt to me as well through my friendship with Michelle. Aunt Betty was the kindest person on earth and I will always cherish memories of her in her beautiful home she loved so much, how much fun it was to lunch with her at the Broyhill Inn, remembering her making biscuits by hand early in the morning before anyone else was awake, sharing pie at Greenfield and Mountain Aire, and her knowing everyone everywhere we went around her town. Everyone loved Betty and she will always be missed.

It was my privilege to share Synthia's Aunt Betty over almost 20 years now. A woman of grace and divine spirit in all that she did and was. One of my last times with Betty this summer was around an outdoor fire, we talked and sang into the night at her parents’ home place in Grassy Creek. I will cherish the vision of her always beautiful and smiling face in the glow of the fire. I think now of Emily Dickinson's quote, "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." I know her love continues on in so many hearts. Ever so, Sharon

RIP my special friend. WJ Methodist Church won`t be the same without Betty tippy toeing all over the church to make sure every flower was just right. She was the most beautiful person (inside and out) that I have ever known. Even these last weeks when her pain was so severe, she still managed a smile and did not complain. I`m sure she is in heaven now decorating it and so glad to see Ed.
Love you Mo and Kevin, if you need me I`ll be there.

Aunt Betty was the most kind hearted, gracious person I have ever known and as early as I can remember I was struck by her beauty. I have so many rich memories of visits to North Carolina, and always looked forward to running around Blowing Rock and Boone with Aunt Betty and lunching at the Broyhill Inn. One time she and I and Ali and Cecil drove to Asheville for an overnight stay with Morris' family. The next morning she said "let's drive to Charleston"... we went on a whim...I loved her biscuits... and banana pudding and sipping coffee on her patio taking in the mountain view. Aunt Betty was one of a kind, a shining light, always in my heart.
