Mrs. Betty Jean Sexton Roland, age 83, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, October 11, 2012 at her home. Memorial service will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 3:00pm at West Jefferson Methodist Church with Rev. Pete Taylor, Rev. A.B. Weaver, and Speaker David VanHoy officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 1-3, two hours prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Roland was born in Grayson County, Virginia on Thursday, September 5, 1929 to the late Howard Roscoe and Novella Sexton. She retired from First Union Bank after 20 years of service. Betty was a member of the West Jefferson Methodist Church, where she did the church flowers for years. She loved her family, her church family and her banking family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all. She is survived by two sons, Morris Roland, of Winston-Salem and Kevin Roland and wife, Tammy, of West Jefferson; a brother, Doug Sexton and wife, Mary, of Binghamton, New York; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
