I have fond memories of Ms. Elsie or "Granny" as some of us called her when I attended Big Laurel Mennonite Church as a child and into my young adult life. You never saw her without a smile. Among my fondest memories of my youth are the many nights I spent at the Perry home enjoying their friendship and hospitality. They were always so gracious and kind. My sister, Ella and I were frequent guests at the Perry home visiting Elaine, our friend. Elsie always mede us feel special.
I have this lasting image of Elsie sitting under a shade tree at the Perry Cemetery during a 'Decoration.' wearing a lovely red blouse against her white hair and she looked so beautiful. Elsie was truly a lovely, generous lady and we are so lucky that she impacted our lives in such a positive way. God blessed Elsie with a long life and we were blessed to have know her for so long.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family during their time of sorrow. Elaine and E.J. were blessed with wonderful parents!
