Walter Edward Eldreth, age 85, of Jefferson died Sunday. April 28, 2013 at his home in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 P.M. at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Casey and Rev. Kirby McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in the Bare-Black Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. until 12:00P.M. prior to the funeral service at Boone Family Funeral Home. Walter Edward Eldreth was born in Ashe County on Thursday, February 9, 1928 to the late Claude and Beatrice Gilley Eldreth. Mr. Eldreth is survived by his wife, Joyce Bare Eldreth of Jefferson; a son, Gary Eldreth and wife Mary of Hickory; a daughter, Cathy Farrington and husband John of Jefferson; a brother, Bobby Eldreth and wife Margaret of Statesville; a sister, Betty Lou Ham of Thomasville; a grandson, Devin Eldreth of, Asheville, NC; a granddaughter, Ashley Lambert and husband Chris of Jefferson. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Eldreth, Andy Eldreth, Bill Eldreth; two sisters, Marie Lambert, Dean Campbell.
