Mr. Edwin Lynn Owen, better known as "Bud", age 63, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday morning, October 1, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Furches officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 11-1pm two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Owen was born in Ashe County on Thursday, October 6, 1949 to Zollie Mae Spencer Owen and the late Alton Reeves Owen. He served in the U.S. Army where he was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran. He was co-owner of Owen Brothers Electric for 32 years. Bud enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Zollie Mae Spencer Owen; three brothers; Darell Owen and wife Mary of West Jefferson, Allen Owen and wife Nita of Raleigh, and Curtis Owen and wife Betsy of West Jefferson; one sister; Aleta Blevins and husband Lanney of Kingsport, TN; nieces and nephews; Alisha Owen and husband Dustin, Emily Fair and husband Keith, Christy Burke and husband Josh, Ory Owen, and Evan Owen; great nieces and nephews; Ryan Ainolhayat, Raegan Fair, and Carter Burke. The family will receive friends at the home of Curtis and Betsy Owen at 229 Owen Lane in West Jefferson.
