Mr. Okey Leonard Thomas, age 89, of Margate Health & Rehab Center passed away Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014 Funeral services will the held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00pm at Senter Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Thomas was born in Clay County, West Virginia on Wednesday, April 23, 1924 to the late Clarence and Margaret Summers Thomas. He retired from Hilti Powers tools, where he worked as a salesman. He lived the majority of his life in Baltimore, Maryland, when he retired he moved to Ashe County. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Maxine Walker Thomas. Mr. Thomas is survived by a sister, Mary Smith of Joppa, Maryland; a brother-in-law, Joe Walker and wife, Ruth, of Crumpler; a special niece, Betty King, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews also survive.
