Dear Al & Sons and all the Phillips family, too! I grieve to learn of Pat's death. I hold each of you in my thoughts, in my prayers and in my heart--ever. Tender, indelible memories keep flooding in--particularly of that joyful, "special day" at Pine Grove UMC all those many years ago. May God bless!

Uncle Sonny, Frank, Dennis, Mark and all your families ...... I am so sorry to hear that Aunt Ann has passed to that House not made with hands Eternal in the Heavens!
She was such a wonderful Wife, Mother, Aunt, and Friend to everyone she met. I loved Aunt Ann and thought she was such an intelligent person and she did such a great job help raising three very intelligent boys.
I have very fond memories how much my late father (Harold Kluttz) loved Ann and enjoyed playing jokes and picking on her and she seemed to enjoy his picking !!!!
Our thoughts and prayers from my entire family go out to all of you and to Ann's family as well. Our Aunt Ann will certainly be missed and if there is anyway that my family or me personally can be of any service to any of you ..... Please do not hesitate to call open me. Always at your service ..... Love Hal Kluttz (980) 241-4425

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope.

Sonny and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.Ann Cope, what a wonderful Lady.We will always remember all the good times we spent together. When you and I were working on the Ashe Shrine Club Ann would come by and check on us to see if we needed anything or something to eat and planting the bushes outside the club. Ann would not let us plant them without first going and getting potting soil. Ann was a real Shrine Lady and a wonderful friend. We are here if there's anything we can ever do for you.

My eulogy from the service, simply thought and written from the heart just before dawn the day of the service when I couldn’t sleep. She was a great lady.
“Ann would be touched to see everyone here today and she would be humbled, cause that is how she was, modest and never seeking to be the center of attention.
I was lucky to be her daughter in law; she welcomed each of us into the family and treated us like her own daughters, but that’s not why I loved her.
I loved her for who she was as an individual; she was elegant, smart, witty and caring. She held herself with poise and she always lead by example.
She would walk me through the garden teaching me about all the plants, their names, how they grew, where each one came from … then inevitably she would bend down and in her generous way she’s dig up off shoots for me to take home and plant in my yard. That’s how she was, always generous, always spreading her goodness in the world.
She’d do the same with the grandkids, teaching them to make apple sauce right from picking apples from the tree. She treated even the youngest child with dignity and spoke to them intelligently. She loved them deeply and taught them so much.
Often after a walk in the garden we’d come in to sit at the kitchen table and share stories of the old days, from how she had a pet crow, Jack, that would wake them up in the morning, to her days of university and her mother encouraging her to write home more AND in good penmanship. To her first teaching and coaching experiences, apparently she learned it is better with students to start strict and get easier-not the other way around. To admiration of her mother and the children she raised, and still finding time to sew beautiful clothes – some of which she still kept to this day.
She shared stories of raising three boys in Raleigh and going out just before dinner for a loaf of bread, getting stuck in Fair traffic for two hours with hungry kids. In her practical way, she decided to break into that loaf of bread, they devoured it. By the time they got home, they had no bread.
And of course she shared stories of Al (Sony) and friends they rode bikes with, places they lived, she liked the heated floors in Marion…. and simply life with her best friend – the love of her life.
She and Al modeled for me the true meaning of marriage, love and caring, I can only hope to have the love and beauty they had together.
I end with a simple moment that resonated with me – Frank and I weren’t married very long and Carson was a toddler. Al and Ann dropped by and I scurried around trying to pick up all those toddler toys that kids get everywhere. She just put a hand on me and told me to enjoy the time I had (with Carson) someday I wouldn’t remember how messy the house was but I would remember his precious years.
When I find myself hurried in life and distracted from the important things I still remember that, I refocus and enjoy the moment.
Ann gave me the gift of many cherished moments.
She was very very much loved. “

Down here in middle Georgia, we are slow in getting news from the Blue Ridge Mountains where I grew up. I just learned of Patsanna's passing last night, and it brought tears to my old eyes.
Ann and I were in the same class at Riverside Elementary, and also all four years at Crossnore High School. She was as nice as a person could possibly be.
We rode the same bus to school at both Riverside and Crossnore, and also saw each other at Methodist Youth Fellowship meetings at Pine Grove Church on Sunday evenings.
Ann was always considerate of others, thoughtful and soft-spoken, and was a beautiful person, both inside and out.
We both played on our school basketball teams, but I was far from being the star player Ann was.
I'm sure I was not the only guy that had a crush on Ann, but times were different back then, and most young guys were rather shy, so we would never have said a word about how we felt about Ann. But she was exactly the sweet and kind type of person a shy guy dreams of marrying.
Once we all went off to different colleges, I never again lived in North Carolina, but never forgot Ann. She was a wonderfully special person.
I send my sympathy to her family and friends, and know her passing leaves an enormous hole in the lives of all those who were close to her.
May our gentle Lord always hold Ann closely in his arms.
