Mr. Charles Edward Brooks, better known as "Chub" age 66, of Lansing passed away Saturday night, January 11, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 1:00pm at Tuckerdale Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. Julian Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Brooks was born in Catawba County on Saturday, September 20, 1947 to the late Click Brooks. Chub was a member of Tuckerdale Baptist Church. He enjoyed trout fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by a son, Travis Brooks. Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Jane Eller Brooks; three sons, Larry Brooks, of Lansing, Daniel Brooks and wife, Lori, of Lansing and Chad Brooks, of Lansing; a daughter, Nicole Carico and husband, Danny, of Wilkesboro; two brothers, Jack Brooks and Randy Brooks, both of Newton; a sister, Cindy Williams, of Newton; two grandchildren, Teagan Brooks and Tyler Brooks; several nieces and nephews also survive.
