Mr. Rufus Smith, age 61, of Fleetwood, died Sunday morning, May 25, 2008 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 3008 at 11:00am at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, May 28, 2008 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born in Key West, Florida on Thursday, August 15, 1946 to the late Sixto Smith and Mercedes Fraga Smith. He is survived by a wife, Linda L. Smith, of the home; a son, David Dean Smith, of Ocala, Florida; a daughter, Mia Garcia and husband, Omar, of Key West, Florida; a sister, Margarette Maggie Malone and husband, Bill, of Marko Island, Florida; two grandchildren, Anthony Garcia and Armani Garcia, of Key West, Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive.
