Chris,Lisa and family members:
It is with sadness that I type these words, and it is my hope and prayer that GOD will heal your broken hearts and allow for you to find a way to cope with your loss. Gerald put up a great fight and so did both of you and your family members. A lot of souls were touched during Geralds sickness, and I'm sure many more were touched during his time as a Marine and as a Deputy. It is easy to see that he was 'one of a kind' that made people want to know him more.Keep your memories of him strong and let his testament to life 'live' through each of you as you continue on with your lives.May you be strong for your little ones that never got to spend more time with their papaw, and may GOD richly bless each of you for taking care of your dad the way that you did. Within my heart I know that Gerald and GOD are extremely proud of you all.

Lisa, Chris and family,
You will never know what a honor and privilege to have called Gerald a friend for many years. We spent many long nights working together at the Sheriffs Dept for 10 years. He was a honest, caring hard working man who dearly loved his family. Lisa and Chris we have known each other our entire lives and I love you both and pray that God's grace will give you peace during this hard time. He will always be remembered with a smile on his face and that mischievous twinkle in his eye when you knew you better watch your step you never know whats around the corner. We love you

Lisa and Chris, We are sorry for your loss. Gerald was a good friend and a long time aquaintance. I will never forget the time in the late 70's while he was on duty I was picking at him and he maced me. After he watched me rub my eyes for a while he laughed and said get some water and everything will be fine. Didn't pick at him much after that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and your families.

I want you both to know I am here and understand the hurt you feel right now. I wish I had words to heal, but I don't. What helps me is to know that Mom is healthy and walking now and your Dad is too. No more hurt. Praise God. We will always miss them, but we WILL be with them again. As Faith reminds me everyday, Nana is more alive now than ever and so is he.
Love you both!!

My most fond memory of Gerald is a selfish one but it shows the compassionate and giving spirit that resided in this hard edged, harder working, man's man. I had for sometime (years) wanted a biker type leather coat that is such part of a "tough" guy personna in media and hollywood. I should have known Gerald would have one. Imagine my surprise when he gave it to me, the real deal, not a cheap knock of but a several hundred dollar coat. I was blown away intially but as I got to know him the less it surprised me. The coat now bears his intials on the the collar and will for as long as I own it. Incredible man. Rest in peace my friend.

May Gerald rest in peace. I served with Gerald in the Marine Corp while stationed at Quantico. I also had the pleasure of meeting his parents and visiting his home several times during our friendship. I was transferred and lost contact with him. I have recently started looking for Marines I had served with. Once again may God be with Gerald and am saddened by his passing. Respectfully, Scott r Johnson .
