Mr. Gerald Ray McNeill, age 59, of Jefferson passed away Sunday morning at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 3pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Dr. Dennis Love officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm on Tuesday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. McNeill was born in Ashe County on Friday, December 23, 1949 to the late Burl and Ethel Lyall McNeill. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Fred Lyall. Gerald retired from Ashe County Sheriffs Department after twenty years of service as a sergeant. He was a HMX1 Mechanic for the Presidential Helicopter Squadrant, and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by one son, Chris McNeill and wife, Rebecca of Jefferson; one daughter, Lisa Osborne and husband, David of Jefferson; four grandchildren, Samantha and Taylor McNeill and Madison and Hannah Osborne. His children will receive friends at the home of their mother, Dot McNeill, 126 Knollview Drive in Jefferson.
